About Bone and Hormone Health Resources
An independent, plain-language guide to adult bone and hormone health, written for readers who are not specialists.
A referral letter arrives, or a test result comes back with a number and a word you have not met before. Most people then search for answers late in the evening and find either a wall of jargon or a sales page. This guide exists to be the calmer option: short answers, longer guides behind them and a named source for every claim.
What this site is
Bone and Hormone Health Resources explains adult bone health and the glands and hormones that touch it. It covers osteoporosis and bone density, calcium, thyroid health, the parathyroid glands, diabetes and metabolic health, and the falls and fractures that make bone health matter. The home page works as a set of questions with short answers, and each one links to a full guide.
Independent, and not a medical practice
This is an independent educational resource. It is not a medical practice, a clinic or a hospital service, and it is not affiliated with any clinic, health system or medical organisation. It offers no appointments, no treatment and no personal advice. If a page ever seems to speak for a particular provider, that is a mistake, and we want to hear about it.
Who writes it
The pages are written and maintained by the Bone and Hormone editors, a small independent team. We do not claim medical credentials or clinical authorship for any page. Where a page states a fact, a figure or a recommendation, it comes from a public source named at the foot of that page, so that you and your own clinician can check it.
How to use it
Use it to understand the vocabulary and to prepare better questions. Our appointment checklist is a good place to begin if you have a referral coming up. Then take your questions to the doctor or specialist who knows your history, because testing, thresholds and treatment choices differ between people and between countries.
For how we pick and check sources, read the editorial standards.
The short version
An independent guide that explains tests and conditions in plain language and shows its sources. It is built to help you ask good questions, not to answer them for you.
